Let x be the cost of her purchase BEFORE TAX.  Then


    x*(1+0.08) = 129.60

    x = 129.60%2F1.08 = use your calculator = 120.00  dollars, PRECISELY.


Since the jean costs twice as much as the blouse, we write this equation and solve it


    B + 2B = 120.00

     3B    = 120.00

      B    = 120.00/3 = 40.00


As you just guessed, B in this equation is the price for the blouse.


So Donna paid $40.00  for the blouse and  twice of it, i.e, $80.00, for the jean.    ANSWER
