You can put this solution on YOUR website! arithmetic sequence has the same difference between consecutive value.
3.4 - x - x - x = -2.0
3.4 - 3x = -2.0
your equation is 3.4 - 3x = -2.0
add 3x to both sides and add 2.0 to both sides to get:
5.4 = 3x
solve for x to get:
x = 5.4/3 = 1.8
3.4 - 3x = -2.0 becomes:
3.4 - 3 * 1.8 = -2 which becomes:
3.4 - 5.4 = -2 which becomes
-2 = -2, confirming the value of x is correct.

you can slso use the arithmetic series formula shown in the following reference.
