A certain restaurant sells cups of coffee for $2 and donuts for $1.50. If the restaurant sold a total of 80 items and earned $141.50, how many donuts did the restaurant sell?
Let number of donuts sold be x
and number of coffees sold be y

x+y =80
multiply equation by 2
2x+2y=160 -------------------(1)
earned $141.50,
1.5x +2y =141.50 -------------(2)
subtract (2) from (1)
0.5x = 18.50
x = 18.50 *2
x= 37 donuts
37*1.5+43*2 =141.50
