Hi
Let c and d represent their respective ages NOW:
c- 8 = 2(d-8) + 1
c + 8 = (7/6)(d+8)
c - 2d = -7
c - (7/6)d = 56/6 - 48/6
- c + 2d = 42/6
c - (7/6)d = 8/6
(5/6)d = 50/6
d = 10, David's age NOW
c = 13 NOW
5 = 2(2) + 1 checks
