 2lbs 4oz is 36oz, 36oz * $0.35 = $12.60
  $2.75 + $12.60= $15.35
  $20 - $15.35 = $4.65 chain back

            The solution by @ewatrrr is  INCORRECT.

            I came to bring a correct solution. 


 The conversion rule is 1 lbs = 16 oz.


 Of the total weigh of 2lbs 4oz, first pound is included into the @2.75 postage payment,

 so overweight is only 1lbs 4oz = 16+4 = 20oz.



 THEREFORE, the total postage cost is  2.75 + 20*0.35 = 9.75 dollars.


 She paid $20, so her change was $20 - $9.75 = $10.25.      ANSWER
