let Jarod’s age be x
Let Jaden’s age y
x/4 + y/3 = 22
Multiply equation by 12 to remove the denominator
we get
3x +4y = 264--------------(1)
x+y = 78 ------------------(2)
solve (1) & (2) to get x & y their ages
Multiply (2) by 3 and subtract equations
3x+4y = 264
3x+3y =234

we get y = 30
plug and find x
