marked up price is x+0.4x or 1.4x
10% discount from that 1.4x=0.14x, so the selling price at the end is 1.26x
that equals $4500
so 1.26x=4500
x=$3571.43 original price.
mark up of 40% is $1428.57.
tried to sell it at a price of $5000.
10% discount is $500 and selling price at the end is $4500.
