The length of a rectangle is three times the width:
L=3W

if the area is 147 square feet:

L%2AW=147.........substitute L
3W%2AW=147
W%5E2=147%2F3
W%5E2=49
highlight%28W=7%29->the width of a rectangle
then L=3%2A7=21

l=3w
so 3w^2=147
w^2=49
width is 7 ft
