Question 1177503: A food store makes product A and B. Product A requires 5 minutes of machine time and $4 for ingredients, and product B requires 2 minutes for machine time and $2 for ingredients. How many products can be made so that the store spends $440 on ingredients and the machine runs exactly 8 hours a day? Note: I checked my solution, and it was correct; however, the textbook listed a different answer.
My Solutions
5x+2y=480
$4x+$2y=440
x=40
y=140
Check
5(40) + 2(140)=480
200+280=480

                You  ALWAYS  can and you  ALWAYS  MUST

to check your solution  ON  YOUR  OWN  by substituting the found values into equations

        and checking if the obtained values are identical in both sides.

Without such a check,  PERFORMED  by  YOU,  your solution can not be considered as completed.

        SUCH  CHECKING  is a  NECESSARY  PART  of any solution.
