You can put this solution on YOUR website!

A rectangular picture window is 5+ft by 8+ft.
If Polly wants to put a trim molding around the window, you need to calculate a perimeter P of that rectangular picture window in order to find out how many feet of molding should she buy.
let the lenght of window be a=8ft, and the width be b=5ft
then:
P+=+2a+%2B+2b
P+=+2+%28a%2Bb%29....substitute a and b
P+=+2+%288ft%2B5ft%29
P+=+2%2A13ft
P+=+26ft
so, Polly should buy 26ft of molding
