Question 1177199: Lita invested some of her savings in real estate which end up yielding 12% at the end of 1 year. At the same time, she invested P200,000 more than this amount into a friend’s restaurant business, which ended up yielding a 22% profit at the end of 1 year. If her total profit was P146,000, how much did she invest in each business venture? Show solution.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

The total interest equation is

    0.12x + 0.22*(x+200000) = 146000

From the equation,

    x = %28146000-0.22%2A200000%29%2F%280.12%2B0.22%29 = 300,000   invested at 12%.

Hence,  the amount invested at 22% was  300,000 + 200,000 = 500,000.

CHECK.  0.12*300000 + 0.22*500000 = 146,000, the total interest.    ! Correct !

Solved.
