You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

The total interest equation is

    0.05x + 0.05*(x+100000) = 35000

From the equation,

    x = %2835000-0.05%2A100000%29%2F%280.05%2B0.05%29 = 300,000   invested by the husband.

Hence,  the amount invested  by Tina was 300,000 + 100,000 = 400,000.

CHECK.  0.05*300000 + 0.05*400000 = 35,000, the total interest.    ! Correct !

Solved.
