Question 117715: On my homework assignment, it says:

"Write the point slope form of equations fro the given information: m=3%2F4+%28-4%2C-5%29". So, I know that I need to find the point slope.
I don't really know what to do. I really need help. I do know that the point slope formula is+m%28x2-x1%29+=%28y2-y1%29. That is the formula my math teacher gave me, but I don't know how it goes in with the problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You are proceeding in right way but with wrong formula.
The point-slope form of equation of a straight line is %28y-y%5B1%5D%29+=+m%28x-x%5B1%5D%29 where m = slope and (x%5B1%5D,y%5B1%5D) are the coordinates of the point through which the straigh line passes.
Here, m+=+3%2F4, x%5B1%5D+=+-4 and y%5B1%5D+=+-5.
So, the equation of the straight line is %28y+%2B+5%29+=+%283%2F4%29%28x+%2B+4%29.
This can be re-written as 4%28y+%2B+5%29+=+3%28x+%2B+4%29 i.e. 3x+-+4y+=+8%29.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=mX+b IS THE LINE EQUATION.
-5=3/4*4+b
-5=3+b
b=-5-3
b=-8 THEREFORE THE LINE EQUATION THROUGH (4,-5), WITH A SLOPE OF 3/4 & A Y INTERCEPT (0,-8)
Y=3X/4-8
+graph%28+300%2C+200%2C+-6%2C+12%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+y+=+3x%2F4+-8%29+ (graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 12, y from -10 to 10, y = 3x/4 -8).
