let x = the multiplier
then
3x = no. of teachers
6x = no. of boys
4x = no. of girls
let m = no. of male teachers
The ratio of girls to male teachers is 3:1 respectively. =
Cross multiply
4x = 3m
m = x
If there were 65 female teachers, how many boys are in the school.
3x = (m+65)
Replace m with x
3x = x + 65
get rid of the fraction, multiply by 3
9x = 4x + 195
9x - 4x = 195
5x = 195
x = 195/5
x = 39 is the multiplier
