Notice that in the left side you have two terms containing "y" only.


Combine like terms.  You will get


    3y = - 4,


which implies  y = -4%2F3.


It describes a horizontal line, parallel to x=axis.

That's all.

When you say "I am having trouble . . . ", I really do not understand what is the cause of your trouble . . .
