Instead of doing it for you, I'll do one exactly like it with the
numbers changed. Here is the problem I will solve:
Anthony has six times as many cards as Juan. After Anthony lost 36 cards to
Juan in a game and gave away 53 cards to other friends, they have the same
number of cards left. How many cards does Anthony have originally?
Anthony has six times as many cards as Juan.
So A = 6J
After Anthony lost 36 cards to Juan
Then Anthony had A-36 and Juan had J+36
in a game and (Anthony) gave away 53 cards to other friends,
Then Anthony had A-36-53 or A-89.
they have the same number cards left
So J+36 = A-89
Substitute 6J for A
J+36 = 6J-89
125 = 5J
25 = J
So Juan had 25 cards to begin with.
To find out how many Anthony had, substitute 25 for J in
A = 6J
A = 6(25)
A = 150
So Anthony had 150 cards to begin with.
Now do yours the exact same way.
