Question 1175798: A local university offers a review course for those who are planning to take
the CPA exam. 30% of the people who took the exam had attended the
university’s CPA review course. The results of the test showed that 60% of
those who attended the CPA review course passed the exam. Among those
who did not attend the course, only 20% passed the exam.
If an individual passes the exam, what is the probability that he attended the
CPA review course?
Can someone help me with the equation to find this answer, please? Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source):
Hi
As to 'passing' the exam:
Question States:
(.30)(.60) + (.70)(.20) = .18 + .14 = .32 passed the exam
P(A|B) = P(A and B)/P(B)
P(took the review | passed) = P(R and Passed)/P(Passing) = .18/.32 = 9/16
