M+-+W+=+%281%2F3%29L%5E2 Subtract M from both sides

%281%2F3%29L%5E2+=+M+-+W Flip both sides (left and right sides swap places)

L%5E2+=+3%28M+-+W%29 Multiply both sides by 3

L+=+sqrt%283%28M+-+W%29%29 or L+=+-sqrt%283%28M+-+W%29%29 Apply the square root. Don't forget about the plus/minus.

If your teacher only wants one equation for L, then I'd go with L+=+sqrt%283%28M+-+W%29%29
