3X-Y=4 NOW MULTIPLY THE SECOND EQUATION BY -1 & ADD.
-3X-2Y=17
---------------
-3Y=21
Y=21/-3
Y=-7 ANSWER.
3X-(-7)=4
3X+7=4
3X=4-7
3X=-3
X=-3/3
X=-1 ANSWER.
