What is the best grade your friend can earn?
Assume he get 100 on the final
15% of the grade is final, then 85% of the grade has an 83% average
100*15 = 1500
83*85 = 7055

totals: 8555 divide by 100 = 85.55% is the best grade he can get

What is the minimum score your friend would need on the final to earn a 75% for the course?
let x = min score on test
15x + 83*85 = 7500
15x + 7055 = 7500
15x = 7500 - 7055
15x = 445
x = 445/15
x = 29.67% on the final will give him 75% for the course
