7 + 4/5 * a - 2/3 * a + 2

put both fractions under the common denominator of 15 to get:

7 + 12/15 * a - 10/15 * a + 2

combine like terms to get:

9 + 2/15 * a.

confirm by assigning a random value to a and evaluate both the original expression and the final expression to see if they provide the same value.

i chose 35 as my random value.
