This form  "2 times older than"  is  PROHIBITED  in  Math problems formulations in English,

since it creates ambiguity  every time  as it is used in  Math problems.

a=r-5

Four years "later":
system%28a%2B4%2Cand%2Cr-5%2B4%29
system%28a%2B4%2Cand%2Cr-1%29
Ron will be 2 times older than Amy.
?

That should mean, r-1=%28a%2B4%29%2B2%28a%2B4%29
r-1=3%28a%2B4%29
r-1=3a%2B12
r=3a%2B13
-
and if you substitute from the first equation of the original system,
a%2B5=3a%2B13
2a=5-13----------which makes NO sense.
