By the way,  if the volume is   972%2Api cm^3,

then the solution and the answer by @ewatrrr   2916%2Api   are both   I N C O R R E C T.

The correct solution is below

    %284%2F3%29%2Api%2Ar%5E3 = 972%2Api

Canceling pi in both sides

    %284%2F3%29%2Ar%5E3 = 972

    r%5E3 = %283%2F4%29%2A972 = 729

    r = root%283%2C729%29 = 9.

    Surface area = 4%2Api%2Ar%5E2 = 4%2Api%2A9%5E2 = 4%2A81%2Api =324%2Api.    ANSWER.

The correct answer   is   324%2Api.

Solved.

Hi,
.
A sphere has a volume of 972π cm^3
|Can just use the word pi for posting. Note use of ^
What is its surface area?
Volume = 4/3 πr^3
 r^3 =%283%2F4pi%29V+=+%283%2F4cross%28pi%29%29972cross%28pi%29+ = 729
   r = 27cm
 Surface Area = 4πr^2   = 4π(27^2 ) = 2916π cm^2
