Let  W  = x

L = 3x-12

Substitute:

P = 2W + 2L = 88yds

2x + 2(3x-12) = 88

2x + 6x - 24 = 88

8x = 112

x = 14yd

W = 14yd  and L = 3%2A14-12 = 30yd
