Hi
25% of 20gal |Note: 'of' indicates multiplication to solve
This can be done one of two two ways... using decimal%2825%2F100%29+=+.25 or fraction %2825%2F100%29+=+1%2F4
.25(20)
0r
(1/4)20gal
Either way
25% of 20gal = 5gal
20gal- 5gal = 15gal
Need to take off 5 more gal to have half the water You started with.
Wish You the Best in your Studies.

since it is totally nonsensical.

Edwin, how can I be sure that this "boy or girl" mistakenly omitted the word "HALF" ?

May be, he (or she) omitted "one third" or "one fourth" ? Or something else ?

In this post, NEITHER the text NOR the context (which is absent) allow me to make a conjecture . . .

In this situation, it is not a tutor's concern/deal/function to guess.

In this situation, the tutor's right reaction is to point a deficiency to the visitor.

Guessing is not a correct reaction in this case.

It is my point. Other tutors may think differently.

HALF of the water that it started with?
Ikleyn, don't you think you're being a little too harsh on this boy or girl. All
he or she did wrong was to leave out the word "HALF". Ewatrrr knew this was what
was meant, and she was nice as could be. You should learn to be nice yourself!
