.

First, take the square root of both sides. You will get

    x - 1 = +/- 2i

in the complex domain, where " i " is the imaginary unit.

Now add 1 to both sides to get the answer

    x = 1 +/- 2i.

ANSWER. There are two complex roots in the complex domain, 1+2i and 1-2i.

Solved.
