Question 1171093: A phone company offers two monthly plans. Plan A costs $19 plus an additional $0.12 for each minute of calls. Plan B costs $9 plus an additional $0.14 for each minute of calls.
For what amount of calling do the two plans cost the same?

What is the cost when the two plans cost the same?

I'm trying to understand the formula.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Plan A is 19+0.12 m. The 19 is a constant cost that you pay whether you use the service or not. The variable cost is 12 cents per minute.
Plan B is 9+0.14 m
set them equal
19+0.12 m=9 +0.14 m
m=10/0.02 or 500 minutes,
-
Plan A is $19+(500*0.12)=$79
Plan B is $9+(500*0.14)=$79.
10=0.02m
