Question 1170879: A researcher wishes to test the claim that the average cost of tuition and fees at AIT is greater than GHc 5,700. She selects a random sample of 36 AIT students and finds the mean to be GHc 5,950. The population standard deviation is GHc 659. Is there enough evidence to support the claim at α = 0.05? Answer by Hamza Goher(1) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! First the null and alternate hypothesis are
Ho<=5700
H1>5700
As the N>30 so this formula will be used:
Z=x̅-μ\σ\sqrt(n)
Z=5950-5700\659\6
Z(cal)=2.27
Z(a)=1.645(from table and +ve as it is right sided)
Now to reject null null hypothesis Z(cal)>Z(a)
so null hypothesis is rejected and the claim that the average cost of tuition and fees at AIT is greater than GHc 5,700 is TRUE.
