Question 1169437: Hi
Fred and Justin were each given a sum of money. If Fred and Justin spent 8 and 16 dollars respectively Justin would still have 70 dollars left
If Fred and Justin spent 16 and 8 dollars respectively Justin would have 430 dollars left.
How much money did each get from their parents. This is verbatim from a textbook.
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

Let F be the Fred money original amount;

Let J be that of Justin.

From the second phrase you have this equation

    J - 16 = 70  dollars    (1)

From the third phrase you have this equation

    J - 8 = 430  dollars    (2)

Equations (1) and (2) contradict each other, OBVIOUSLY.

Therefore, this problem is SELF-CONTRADICTORY and has no solution.

Typical TRASH.
