A radius perpendicular to a chord bisects the chord. The distance from the center to the chord is measured along a perpendicular to the chord. A segment with endpoints at an endpoint of the chord and the center of the circle is a radius. You now have a right triangle with legs that measure 1 and 6 and where the radius is the hypotenuse. Use Pythagoras.
