You can put this solution on YOUR website! A triple jump consists of hop, step and jump.
The length of Keith's step was three-quarters of the length of his hop
s = .75h
arrange h in terms of s
.75h = s
h = s/.75
h = 1.3333s
and the length of his jump was half the length of his step.
j = .5s
if the total length of Keith's triple jump was 17 meters,
h + s + j = 17
replace h and j
1.3333s + s + .5s = 17
2.83s = 17
s = 17/2.8333
s = 6 meters is the step
:
what was the length of his hop, in meters?
h = 1.3333 * 6
h = 8 meters is the hop

Let the length of the hop, be H
Then the length of the step =
Length of the jump =
As they total 17, we have: H + .75H + .375H = 17
2.125H = 17
Length of the hop, or
That's ALL!! Nothing MORE, nothing LESS!
