You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the two numbers be x and y.
x = y + 18
x + y = 92
replace x with y + 18 to get:
y + 18 + y = 92
combine like terms to get:
2y + 18 = 92
subtract 18 from both sides of the equation to get:
2y = 74
solve for y to get:
y = 74/2 = 37
x = y + 18 = 55
x + y = 92 becomes 37 + 55 = 92 which becomes 92 = 92 which confirms the solution is correct.
the two numbers are 37 and 55.

Find two numbers such that one of them exceeds the other by 18 and their sum is 92.
Let the smaller number be S
Then larger is: S + 18
We then get: S + S + 18 = 92
2S = 74
Smaller number, or highlight_green%28matrix%281%2C5%2C+S%2C+%22=%22%2C+74%2F2%2C+%22=%22%2C+37%29%29
You should now be able to find the larger number!
