You can put this solution on YOUR website! Your description is not coordinated with your proportion. Your description needs to say exactly what are the parts of the proportion and indicate their units.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! ratio of aluminum to slate = 25/34
25/34 = x/135
multiply both sides by 135 to get:
135 * 25/34 = x
solve for x to get:
x = 135 * 25 / 34 = 99.26470588
this doesn't compute to integers.
in order for that to happen, the number of total houses would need to be a multiple of 25 * 34 = 850
for example:
if 2 * 850 = 1700 houses, then;
25/34 = x/1700
solve for x to get:
x = 25/34 * 1700 = 1250
number of houses with aluminum siding = 1250
number of houses with slate siding = 1700 - 1250 = 450
if the ratio of aluminum to slate is 25/34, then:
the ratio of slate to aluminm will be (35 - 25) / 34 = 9/25
9/34 * 1700 = 450
it all checks out.
in your problem, you did not get a whole number because 135 was not a least common multiple of 25 and 34.
the lest common multiple of 25 and 34 was 850.
for your problem, best you could do was the solution that was determined above, and shown again below:
x = 135 * 25 / 34 = 99.26470588
in fraction form, it's (135 * 25) / 34 = 3375/34.
