            This statement is   INCORRECT.



Counter-example:  consider   z%5B1%5D = 1,   z%5B2%5D = i.

Then   arg (z%5B1%5D%2Bz%5B2%5D) = pi%2F4;     arg (%28z%5B1%5D%2Bz%5B2%5D%29%5E2) = pi%2F2   and the equality fails.
