You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the total amount of fruit is 8 and 3/4 kilograms.

5/8 of the fruit is given to the girls.

the rest is given to the boys.

the girls get 5/8 * (8 and 3/4) kilograms of the fruit.

the boys get 3/8 * (8 and 3/4) kilograms of the fruit.

that's because all of the fruit is 8/8 of the fruit.

since 8/8 is equal to 1, then:

8/8 * (8 and 3/4) = 1 * (8 and 3/4) = 8 and 3/4 which is all of the fruit.

if the girls get 5/8 of the fruit, then 8/8 minus 5/8 = 3/8.

that's what's left for the boys.

so, .....

the girls get 5/8 * (8 and 3/4) kilograms of fruit.

the boys get 3/8 * (8 and 3/4) kilograms of fruit.

8 and 3/4 kilograms of fruit is equal to 35/4 kilograms of fruit.

5/8 * 35/4 = 175/32 = 5 and 15/32 kilograms of fruit.

3/8 * 35/4 = 105/32 = 3 and 9/32 kilograms of fruit.

the girls get 5 and 15/32 kilograms of fruit.

the boys get 3 and 9/32 kilograms of fruit.
