Note 1: farther, not further....

The difference in the distances is 3.2km minus 400m, or 3200m-400m=2800m.

2800/400 = 7; he cycled 7 times farther than he ran.

Note 2: If you have an answer key that says the answer is 8, the answer key is wrong. He cycled 8 times AS FAR AS he ran; but that is 7 times FARTHER THAN he ran.

The question asked for how many times FARTHER THAN -- not how many time AS FAR AS.
