Question 1167076: Martin runs 400 m, then gets on his bike and cycles for 3.2 km. How many times further did he cycle than run? Found 2 solutions by josgarithmetic, greenestamps:Answer by josgarithmetic(39630) (Show Source):
The difference in the distances is 3.2km minus 400m, or 3200m-400m=2800m.
2800/400 = 7; he cycled 7 times farther than he ran.
Note 2: If you have an answer key that says the answer is 8, the answer key is wrong. He cycled 8 times AS FAR AS he ran; but that is 7 times FARTHER THAN he ran.
The question asked for how many times FARTHER THAN -- not how many time AS FAR AS.
