Let x be the number of problems in her assignments.


The problem says that

    x%2F2 - x%2F3 = 2.


It is your base equation to solve and find x.


To solve it, multiply everything (both sides) by 6.  You will get then

    3x - 2x = 12,

     x      = 12.


ANSWER.  There were 12 problems in the assignment.
