If entity A can finish one complete job in   time periods, and entity B can finish the same job i   time periods, then A can complete   of the job in one time period and B can complete   of the job in one time period.  So, working together, A and B can complete   of the job in one time period. And therefore, working together, the two entities can complete the job in   time periods.
