Question 1162384: For the following problem use the table below to determine the probability and Leave Answers as Fractions
I think I got this I just need to know If I'm Right.
I tried to word the table so all the values would line up right. Hope it's clear.
Days exercising 0-1 2-3 4-5 6-7
Male Exercise 40 53 26 6
Femaleexercise 34 68 37 11
Find the probability that the individual was a male
and exercised 2-3 days/week.
First I totaled up the sums for male and female as well as days per week
So Now my Table looks like this:
Day exercising 0-1 2-3 4-5 6-7
Male exercise 40 53 26 6 =125
Femaleexercise 34 68 37 11= 150
Totals are =74 =121 = 63 =17 =275
Next I went and starting with the male column went over to the right to 2-3 days a week where (53) is listed took that and went to my total of 275 since the formula is P= Male Exercised 2-3 over the Total I got the Answer 53/275
Next Find the probability that the person exercised 4-5
days/week , given that the individual was female.
Same thing again so my table now looks like this
Days exercise 0-1 2-3 4-5 6-7
Male Exercise 40 53 26 6 =125
FemaleExercise 34 68 37 11= 150
=74 =121 = 63 =17 =275
However Because This Problem Says GIVEN that the Individual was Female I shrink my sample size and focus only on the Female side. So 150 becomes total and if I go to days per week exercising and move right until I get to 4-5 days then come back down to female I see the value is 37 so for this problem
Answer is (p=37/150)
Is this correct?
Finally, the last part as
Find the probability that the individual was female’ given they exercised 4-5 days per week.
Days exercising 0-1 2-3 4-5 6-7
Male exercise 40 53 26 6
Femaleexercise 34 68 37 11
This Time Days of the Week Exercising becomes my denominator specifically 4-5 days which gives me a total of 63 and I see if I follow the female column over to this area the value is 37 once again.
Answer P=37/63
Is this Correct?
Thanks for your help. I do hope this post wasn't too much

You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
For the following problem use the table below to determine the probability and Leave Answers as Fractions
Days exercising 0-1 2-3 4-5 6-7
Male Exercise 40 53 26 6
Female exercise 34 68 37 11
Find the probability that the individual was a male
and exercised 2-3 days/week.
/////////////////////
Solution
First, I formatted the given part by an appropriate way to make it easy readable.
Next, I start my solution.
In the table, I find that cell, which relates to males exercising 2-3 days/week.
The number in the cell is 53.
The post does not say, UNFORTUNATELY, from which category the individual is randomly selected,
// and it is a FAULT of the post //
but I believe and I will assume that the individual is randomly selected from the entire population of all men and women.
So, I calculate the entire population
40 + 53 + 26 + 6 + 34 + 68 + 37 + 11 = 275.
My next step is to form this fraction .
It is your answer.
Solved.

As you see, all you need to do is to read the problem; to understand what they want and then to proceed accordingly.
There is nothing difficult in it (!)

So, I answered the first question in the post.
Honestly, your post is a mess of the problem's questions and your trials,
so, it is difficult to separate questions from your thoughts . . .
My I give an advice to you?
When you want to learn a new subject, do not post many questions in one post.
It ALWAYS works against you . . . under any circumstances . . .
