There are many ways to solve a problem like this; different things work better for different people.

I hope you will get several responses showing different methods....

The ratio of red:yellow is 8:6, or 4:3. That means 4 of every 7 are red and 3 of every 7 are yellow.

1200 flowers total means the approximate number of yellow is

(3/7)*1200 = 3600/7 = approximately 514.
