Yes you are correct. Vertices A and D are connected with an edge (basically a line segment or some kind of curve), so they are adjacent vertices.

In contrast, vertices like D and E are not connected with an edge. If we wanted to go from D to E, or vice versa, then we must travel through at least one other vertex, which shows D and E are not next door neighbors.
