The problem as posted makes no sense; it is probably not stated the way it was intended.

The way it is posted, it says the total value of the dimes and quarters is $3.70 but that the total would be $4.00 if all the coins were dimes.

That is clearly not possible; you can't replace the quarters with dimes and get a larger total value....

Look at how you have posted the problem here; then re-post the question stated correctly.
