You can put this solution on YOUR website!

kg x Cashew nuts Php 120
kg y peanuts Php 40

x + y = 80
50*(80)=4000

120.00 x + 40.00 y = 4000.00 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -40.00
Multiply (2) by 1.00
-40.00 x -40.00 y = -3200.00
120.00 x 40.00 y = 4000.00
Add the two equations
80.00 x = 800.00
/ 80.00
x = 10.00
plug value of x in (1)
1.00 x + 1.00 y = 80.00
10.00 + 1.00 y = 80.00
1.00 y = 70.00
y = 70.00
Ans x = 10.00
y = 70.00
10.00 kg Cashew nuts
70.00 kg peanuts

You may notice that the desired price of 80 php per kg is exactly in the middle of 40 and 120 php per kg. The amount of each of the nuts should therefore be 25 kg of each.
