Question 1159051: Anne invested some of her $20,0000 in bonds that made an 8% profit and the rest in bonds that made a 7% profit. If the profit on the 8% bonds was $700 more than the profit on the 7% bonds, how much did Anne invest in the 7% bonds?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I'm assuming you meant $20,000
let
x= amount invested in bonds that made 8% profit
y= amount invested in bonds that made 7% profit
x+y=20,000
^This means that
x=20,000-y
y=20,000-x
.08x= profit on the 8% bonds
.07y= profit on the 7% bonds
.08x=.07y+700...... (substitute in the value of x in terms of y to solve)
.08(20,000-y)=.07y+700.... (distribute)
1600-.08y=.07y+700....(Inverse operations)
900=0.15y
y=6,000
Anne invested $6000 in the 7% bonds.
I hope this helped!
