Solve mentally (and quickly) with just a little bit of logical reasoning.

Among the 95% who don't wear one piece of jewelry, half wear two and half wear none. So among that 95%, the average number of pieces of jewelry worn is 1.

But the other 5% wear one piece of jewelry -- so on average all 600 men wear one piece of jewelry.

And that of course means the total number of pieces of jewelry is 600.
