no choices given....

The first person works twice as fast; so when working together with the second person, the first person does 2/3 of the job and the second person does 1/3.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Add their rates of working
Let +t+ = time in minutes to
finish job working together
+1%2F15+%2B+1%2F30+=+1%2Ft+
Multiply both sides by +30t+
+2t+%2B+t+=+30+
+3t+=+30+
+t+=+10+ min
The whole job gets done in +10+ min
---------------------------------------------
To get the fraction of the job done by worker 1:
+1%2F15+=+x%2F10+
+2+=+3x+
+x+=+2%2F3+
----------------------
To get the fraction done by worker 2:
+1%2F30+=+y%2F10+
+1+=+3y+
+y+=+1%2F3+
---------------------------------------------
Worker 1 does 2/3 of the job in 10 min
---------------------------------------------
Note that I can write the equation like this:
+%282%2F3%29+%2F+10+%2B+%28+1%2F3+%29+%2F+10+=+1%2F10+
