Question 1156033: Josh’s swimming pool can be filled by using a garden hose in 14 hours. His
neighbor, Jordan has offered a garden hose from his house, which can fill the
pool in 18 hours. Ryan accidentally leaves the drain open, which will empty the
pool in 25.5 hours. How long will it take to fill the pool? Give an exact answer.
I had:
t/14 + t/18 - t/25.5 = 1
Howver it is not easy to find a common denominator for this equation. Found 2 solutions by BlGDAVE, ikleyn:Answer by BlGDAVE(19) (Show Source):
Multiply both sides by 14*18*25.5
and BOLDLY go forward.
