The "wanted" answer is  0.13.*0.13 = 0.0169.


But, formally, it would be true, ONLY if the problem states that the hurricanes are independent and each may occur 
with the probability 0.13 any time (any day or month) in a year.


But the problem DOES NOT state it, so it is slightly defective, in my view.


I think that NO ONE textbook (textbooks are carefully edited and peer reviewed) would place such a problem.


So, its origin is UNCLEAR to me, and I do not think that it is from good source.


Would I be an author or an editor, I'd DEFINITELY do not place it in my textbook.
