Question 1155948: Each morning, sandra leaves her house for work at the same time. In the morning there is no traffic, so she travels at an average speed of 60 km/hr and get to work in 40 minutes. However, when she goes home in the evening there is a lot of traffic and it takes 75 minutes to get home. what is her average speed on the way home?

The distance from home to work is 60*(2/3) = 40 miles.
Here the ratio represents 40 minutes, that are of an hour.
The way back takes 75 minutes, or 1 hour and 15 minutes, i.e. hours.
Therefore, the average speed driving back from work to home is = = 8*4 = 32 miles per hour.
ANSWER. The average speed driving back from work to home is 32 miles per hour.
