measured 100 feet on each side. During a telephone discussion, one contractor offered the following: “I
charge $600 per acre. An acre measures 200 by 200 feet, so a 100 by 100-foot plot of land would cost $300.”
At this point, I hung up the phone. Why?

This smart person expected to hear $150, and he (or she) was shocked to hear $300, instead.
